GMDN Agency signs cooperation agreement with Kazakhstan medical device authority

Representatives of the GMDN Agency and the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed an agreement in London on Friday 5 June 2026, marking a new phase of cooperation to support the use of the Global Medical Device Nomenclature (GMDN) in Kazakhstan.

Mr. Dauren Dikhanbayev, General Director and Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices of Kazakhstan, said: “We welcome the opportunity to establish ongoing cooperation with GMDN experts in areas such as data harmonisation, categorisation and the coding of new medical devices. We are also pleased to take part in relevant initiatives and discussions as this work develops.”

Under the agreement, the two organisations will work together to support the use of GMDN as a standardised nomenclature system for medical devices in Kazakhstan, helping to strengthen consistency, categorisation and regulatory alignment.

Deniz Bruce, CEO of the GMDN Agency, said: “This agreement reflects our shared commitment to improving the quality and consistency of medical device data. We are pleased to be supporting their use of GMDN as part of wider efforts to strengthen harmonisation and patient safety in Kazakhstan.”
