GMDN Agency welcomes new Trustee

The GMDN Agency is pleased to announce that Melissa Torres has joined the GMDN Agency Board of Trustees as its newest Board member.

Melissa brings over 20 years of leadership in FDA and international regulatory policy. Most recently, she served as Associate Director for International Affairs at the FDA’s Centre for Devices and Radiological Health and is widely recognised for her strategic work supporting global regulatory collaboration for medical devices.

 “We are delighted to welcome Melissa to the GMDN Agency Board of Trustees,” said John Wilkinson, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “Her depth of experience in international regulatory policy and her commitment to collaboration will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the GMDN’s role in supporting patient safety and effective regulatory oversight worldwide.”

Melissa Torres is also Executive Vice President of Technology and Regulatory Affairs for AdvaMed® – a trade association that leads the effort to advance medical technology in order to achieve healthier lives and healthier economies around the world.

Melissa said: “I’m honoured to join the GMDN Agency Board of Trustees. The GMDN plays a vital role in enabling clear, consistent communication about medical devices across health systems and regulatory frameworks worldwide. I look forward to working with the Board and the team to support the continued development and global use of the nomenclature in the interests of patient safety and innovation.”
